Bear River jumped out to a 2-0 lead over Tri-City in the first inning of the District 11, Area 1 9-10 All Stars Little League tournament in Lincoln but it wouldn?t last as the team from Rocklin came away with a 12-2 victory in four innings. Tri-City broke the game open in the second inning after holding the Bear River club scoreless in the top half of the frame. After Robert Jones and Gabe Petrucelli crossed the plate to tie the game, Anthony Baglietto came up with the bases loaded and stroked a base hit that cleared the bases and eventually landed him on third. After Baglietto and Shane Connors scored to make it 7-2, Bear River went to its bullpen. Tri-City picked up an eighth run when Petrucelli came up for his second appearance in the inning and ripped a double to drive in Jones ? again. Bear River managed to put a man on first in the top half of the third inning, but a masterful double play from second baseman Joey Souto to shortstop Connors to Ryan King at first ended any hopes Bear River had to score. Tri-City came back in the third to score four more runs to bump the lead up to 10. That left Bear River with one last chance to get back into the game but it wasn?t to be. With one out in the fourth inning, Baglietto came on in relief and fanned the final two batters with Bear River runners on second and third to end the game.
