Turn those engines off for goodness sake

-A +A
During a recent walk with my dog, I passed by Spring View Middle School as it was ready to let out for the day. There were a number of vehicles in line with parents waiting to pick up children. I couldn’t help but notice that at least half of these vehicles had their motors running. (It was a beautiful, warm day, warm enough for T-shirts and open windows). I’m sure most of us are aware of the effect of vehicle exhaust on air quality. Perhaps, though, not everyone realizes how much idling a car contributes to particulate matter in the air we breathe. It really could make a big difference if we all simply turned off our cars instead of idling while waiting for pickups, etc. We are so blessed to be living where we do. Let’s all do our part to make it a great place to live now and in the future, for the sake of all of us, and for the sake of the Earth too. Denise Finch, Rocklin
