Joey Ramos has stretched his senior season with Rocklin High School’s wrestling team by qualifying for the state championships, which begin Friday at Rabobank Arena in Bakersfield. Joining Ramos will be junior Shane Keefe, who bounced back after losing his first match at the Sac-Joaquin Section Masters tournament to place fourth at 140 pounds. Ramos survived the Masters meet at Stockton Arena by recovering from a loss in the quarterfinals to finish fifth at 215 pounds. The Thunder already has one state medalist. Sophomore Olivia Seppinni placed fifth at 125 pounds in the girls championships last Saturday at Lemoore High. Whitney had two wrestlers in the Masters meet, but neither survived. Senior Justin Martinez lost his first matches at 119 pounds, and senior Julio Ceron was eliminated after going 2-2 on Friday. Read all about these wrestlers in Thursday’s edition of the Placer Herald.
