The Placer Herald candidates for Athlete of the Month for April Paige Transue Whitney High The senior goalie allowed just one goal throughout the entire Pioneer Valley League season. She helped the Wildcats go unbeaten and win a league title. Matt Fielding Rocklin High The junior pitcher helped the Thunder win their third consecutive SFL title with his consistent pitching. Fielding had a 1.71 ERA with 43 strikeouts and 12 walks through the first 53.1 innings this season. Robbie Simmons Rocklin High The Thunder senior is ranked second in the state and ninth nationally in the pole vault (16-feet, 3-inches). He was voted the “Outstanding Athlete of the Meet” by all the coaches at the Chico Invitational in late April.
