The California Pacific Conference Tournament championship came down to a penalty kick difference as William Jessup University’s stellar season came to a close earlier this month.

After the Warriors took a 1-0 halftime lead on Cara Eskenazi’s goal, the Eagles came back to score 49 seconds into the second period. William Jessup’s Dallas Butterfield then came back with a goal to give the locals a 2-1 lead.

Goalkeeper Katie Rappazza made five saves in each half.

At the 78 minute mark, WJU was called for a foul and Embry Riddle was able to knot the game on a penalty kick.

The two clubs went scoreless in two overtimes to bring the game down to penalty kicks to decide it. The Eagles netted five, the Warriors four and the championship went to Embry Riddle.

William Jessup ended the season 13-3-3, a school record. Eskenazi tied a school record with her 13th goal and Butterfield broke the WJU record for assists.
