A favorite for people of all ages, the Chamber’s 17th annual Hot Chili & Cool Cars event includes a day of entertainment, activities and fun for the entire family and is open to the public with free admission for all. Hot Chili & Cool Cars will have something for everyone when it rumbles into town 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 18 with the classic car show and chili cook-off set to take center stage. Start the day with Boy Scout Pack 29’s annual pancake breakfast fundraiser. The Scouts will be serving syrup-laden pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice from 6:30-11 a.m. at the corner of Oak and Pacific Streets. Tickets are $4 in advance and $5 the day of the event (children under 5 are free). Tickets may be purchased ahead of time from any Pack 29 Cub Scout or at tables outside local merchant supporters such as Bel Air, K-Mart, Lowe’s, Nugget, Safeway on Granite Drive, Save Mart, Walgreens and Wal-Mart. Dave Russell and his band will be performing everything from country to rock on the Nationwide Insurance (Ben W. Lauer Agency, Joseph N. Adamson Agency and Natalie Kachmar Agency) Main Stage from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Performance Square, sponsored by Style Magazine and Tri Counties Bank, will host other local talent including Rocklin Community Theater, Placer Youth Orchestra, and several dance and gymnastic centers. There will also be tasty fair food from a dozen different vendors. Classic car owners and chili cooks will be competing for several different prizes while showing off their classic cars and serving their mouth-watering recipes. Local business and crafters’ booths will also be featured. For younger guests, be sure to stop by the Whitney Ranch Kids Area where kids and their families can enjoy a variety of bounce houses, a climbing wall, face painting, carnival type games, crafts and more. “Hot Chili & Cool Cars is an event we enjoy being a part of each year,” said Jason Campbell, general manager of Kniesel’s Auto Collision Center in Rocklin. “We have an opportunity to mingle with our customers and promote our business to the local community at the same time.” New and returning sponsors have lined up to support this community event with five-time title sponsor Five Star Auto Care and four-time title sponsor RC Willey leading the way.
