Whitney’s Hodgens sets pace for 2012

FRESNO _ Whitney High cross country runner Ryan Hodges turned in a time of 16:16 at the California State Cross Country Meet, Saturday, to finished 48th among Division III boys. The winning time was 15:11, turned in by St. John Bosco senior Danny Martinez; of the 47 runners ahead of Hodgens, 29 were seniors. Del Oro junior Trevor Stephens made it onto the top-10 podium by one second. Placer’s Christian Finkbeiner, a senior, clocked in at 16:14 for 44th place. Placer County schools did well at the state meet. Oakmont’s Karlie Garcia came in second, just one second behind the winning time of 17:19 for Division III girls. Oakmont, placed 15th, and Del Oro 18th. Folsom’s Vista del Lago High School was second. For the Division III boys, Placer was 16th, and Del Oro 19th. In Division II, Woodcreek’s boys team was 12th, and the girls 13th. Folsom’s boys garnered 20th. Bear River’s Alex Goffman was 75th in Division IV.
