Whitney boys continue dominance in cross country

The Whitney High School cross-country teams hosted the second Capital Athletic League Meet, Wednesday, with the boys taking first, and the girls second. The varsity boys improved to 10-0 on the year totaling (35 points in their victory. Rio Americano (40 points) finished in second, and Antelope (84 points) finished in third place. The Wildcats’ Ryan Hodgens once again led a sweep with Nathan Wellington and Jacob Zufelt finishing just behind in second and third. They all ran to personal bests with Hodgens running 15:48 to win the race. Shawn Donovan, Nicholas Pulido and Devin Valdez all ran personal bests to solidify the win over Rio Americano. The varsity girls finished in second place and were led by Jenica Dodge, who came in fourth, and Megan Hall finished in seventh place. Taelor Hatch and Ali Oranen placed ninth and 12th, respectively. The JV boys ran to a second-place finish just missing out on defeating Mira Loma 29-39. Kent Kreutzberg and Eric Leverenz recorded top five finishes. Whitney has one more league meet, Oct. 27. Head coach Mark Snow said his squad has been preparing to end the regular season strong. “Everyone has been working really hard to keep our teams at the top of the league,” Snow said. “We are pumped to finish out the season well.”
