Whitney boys volleyball goes up 5-0 in league
El Camino gave the appearance they came to Whitney High for a clinic in boys volleyball and the Wildcats didn’t disappoint last week.
The Eagles best set was the third in which they scored 16 points; an even dozen was all they could muster in the first two games.
The Wildcats served up seven aces in the first set alone with seven different players getting kills.
Whitney head coach Kristen Gideon-Parker said she wasn’t sure what to expect judging from El Camino’s record. Whatever concerns the Eagles might have given her in the beginning quickly evaporated.
“(El Camino) came out a little bit slow and I was waiting for them to come back because they have gone five sets with a lot of the other teams,” Gideon-Parker said, “but it never happened.”
Gideon-Parker was able to use her bench throughout the match and was pleased her club didn’t play down to El Camino’s game.
The ‘Cats traveled to Bear River March 21 and defeated the Bruins 3-0 to improve to 5-0 in the Capital Athletic League and 15-1 overall.
