Whitney High boys water polo goalkeeper Hunter Pietrzak returned from an injury in time to help the Wildcats take a 7-5 victory over cross-town rival Rocklin Sept. 22. “It was an all- around effort on everyone’s part. We controlled the game the entire time,” said Whitney head coach Mike Chavez, who added the Wildcats played great defense. The club kept the momentum going by defeating Del Campo at home 13-9. The team was led by Michael Parsons, Nolan Eger and Garrett Butts. Ironically, it was in a previous match against Rocklin that Pietrzak was injured. He was hurt in late August helping the ‘Cats win in the first contest 7-6. “[He] will play a role in the start of league play next week,” said Chavez, who said Pietrzak played well in the goal this past week. Earlier in September, Whitney dropped matches to Oakmont and Foothill. The Wildcats were scheduled to host the 2011 Sac-Joaquin Section champions Rio Americano Wednesday. “Our varsity team keeps getting stronger,” Chavez said.
