Whitney drops home game to Rio Americano in league action
Rio Americano solidified its standing in the Capital Athletic League, defeating the Whitney varsity girls basketball team 61-34 Thursday.
In a very one-sided affair, the Raiders controlled the scoreboard by double-digits for nearly the entire game.
Whitney struggled to control the ball, turning it over 28 times. The Wildcats shot 25 percent from the floor, struggling to keep pace with Rio Americano’s shooters.
The Wildcats will look to get back into CAL competition after defeating Mira Loma 59-41 on Wednesday.
With a 1-2 record in league play, the Wildcats will have the opportunity to improve their record with four-straight home games, starting with Tuesday’s contest with El Camino.
Full coverage of the Whitney vs. Rio Americano will be published on the Jan. 24 issue of the Placer Herald.
