Whitney girls leave Mira Loma in their wake

Marauders get a split

The Whitney High girls swim team was almost untouchable for visiting Mira Loma as the Wildcats took first place in all but one event to outdistance the Marauders 155-15, last week. Seniors Colleen Daley and Loree Olson turned in their usual sterling performances with double victories. Daley took the 50-yard, and 200-yard freestyles events in times of 26.22 seconds and 2:18.52 respectively. Olson captured the 200 intermediate medley and 100 breaststroke clocking 2:18.52 in the 200 and 1:14.83 in the 100. Also proving ‘Cats can swim very well were freshman Lauren Votava and junior Cassidy Wilson. Votava took both the 100 freestyle (1:00.32) and 100 backstroke (1:09.16) and Wilson went the distance in the 500 freestyle for a 6:49.77 victory. JV _ Not to be outdone, the junior Wildcats blanked Mira Loma 114-0. Leading Whitney were Kathryn Halldin, Taylor Sienkiewicz, Kaylee Ramos and Morgan Budd. BOYS Although the Marauders took the match 111-71, the Wildcats got great performances from seniors Nick Laughlin, Logan Osterman, Nigel Siwabessy and sophomore Michael Ewing.
