The Whitney High School girls water polo team has hit the pool deck with high expectations with a goal to dominate the Capital Athletic League this season. Last year, the Wildcats placed third in league and were seeded in the CIF Division 2 Playoffs bracket for the fourth consecutive year. The ‘Cats finished with a overall season record of 12-9. “Obviously, this season we would like to continue on making it to playoffs,” said girls head coach Kari Ustaszewski. “We would like to win a few more games in league and preseason. Ultimately we would like to progress further than 1-2 wins in the playoff tournament.” Ustaszewski said this season’s group of girls looks strong from freshmen through seniors. Seniors, Michelle Sterri, Casidy Wilson, and Macie Lopez are noted for their expertise and offensive skills. Stepping up to the varsity level will be Christina Daley, sophomore, a defensive force in the goal box. Whitney played its first home scrimmage Tuesday against Del Oro and Bella Vista. _ Amanda Calzada is a correspondent covering both Whitney and Rocklin high school sports
