Whitney celebrated a decisive 20-14 win against Mira Loma during its second league game to update its league standings to 1-1-0 last week. “We were able to limit turnovers and capitalize on the counterattack,” said Wildcats head coach Kari Ustaszewski. Michelle Sterri, who drew three, 5-meter ejections, contributed 10 goals. Macie Loepz scored six goals, Cassidy Wilson three, and Megan Green scored one. Ustaszewski said Christina Daley played great defense. From the goal, Tayor Descheemaker led assists, as did field player Cassidy Wilson. The game reversed momentum from the match played against Rio Americano Oct. 3. The Raiders claimed an 8-2 victory against Whitney. “It was probably our best game of the season,” Ustaszewski said of the Rio Americano match, “even though we lost.” Michelle Sterri scored the Wildcats’ two goals in that game, while Taylor Descheemaeker and Cassidy Wilson served were strong forces on defense. The team has committed to several morning practices a week to supplement afternoon training. “We hope to go on a winning streak next week playing another league game against Antelope,” said Ustaszewski.
