Whitney golfer invited to play in First Tee Open

Whitney High?s Kelsey Ulep was selected to play in The First Tee Open at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Del Monte Golf Course. Ulep was among the 81 golfers ages 16-18 picked from 180 applicants to compete. Nature Valley and the Champions Tour partnered with The First Tee to put on the tournament and promote The First Tee Life Skills Experience. The Experience gives young players an opportunity to develop through golf and character education. It also offers life-enhancing values such as honesty, integrity and sportsmanship. ?The Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach is an opportunity of a lifetime for the young people in our program,? says Joe Louis Barrow, Jr., chief executive of The First Tee. ?Playing at world-renowned golf courses alongside Champions Tour players, the event provides our participants the chance to showcase not only their golfing abilities but also the core values developed through The First Tee?s Life Skills Experience.? Barrow said The First Tee was very grateful for the generosity of Nature Valley. Ulep, 16, has been playing golf for eight years and carries a 1.8-stroke handicap.
