Whitney beat CAL opponent Mira Loma 204-211 thanks to medal rounds by Ryan Speroni and Brian Sterri on the Matadors’ home course Haggin Oaks (Arcade).

The duo each shot a 40 as the Wildcats to five averaged 40.8 strokes. Mira Loma shot well but couldn’t make up the ground.

Schedule – April 9, Antelope at Lincoln Hills Golf Course.

Ponderosa was able to get by the Wildcats 3-2 last week in an extra-inning game. A two-run rally by the Bruins in the top of the eighth provided the winning margin.

Shelby Taylor crossed the plate twice for Whitney and Kayli Shaw and Mallory Andrada provided the firepower but the ‘Cats came up a run short. Shaw and Taylor both had triples in the non-league match up and Mallory Andrada slammed a double.

Taylor Cotton pitched all eight stanzas and did a yeoman’s job collecting 13 strikeouts and no bases on balls.

CAL – Cordova 7-3, Whitney 6-3, Mira Loma 3-3, El Camino 5-6, Antelope 5-8, Rio Amercano 5-9.

Schedule – April 4-6, at Livermore Tournament.

The Wildcats roughed up El Camino behind No. 1 player Connor Macias’ 6-0, 6-0 victory and the 6-1, 6-2 doubles triumph of Aaron Roudebush and Dillon Garces.
