Whitney qualifies swimmers for sections

ROSEVILLE_ The Whitney High swim team swam in the Roseville Invitational last week with the girls dominating the competition. The Wildcats’ Loree Olson showed why she is on scholarship to the University of Washington by earning the meet’s high-point award among more than 2,000 swimmers. Olson’s winning events were the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.67), and 100-yard backstroke (1.01.07). The ‘Cats also qualified for sections swimmers Haley Barker, Jenna Loria, Christina Daley, Lauren Votava, Colleen Daley, Alex Mowrey and, of course, Olson. Olson, Botava, Christina Daley and Colleen Daley combined in the 100-yard medley relay to set a new meet record. GIRLS Whitney 119, Antelope 51 Winning swimmers Barker, 200 freestyle, 2:18.40. Votava, 200 individual medley, 2:22.88; 500 freestyle 5:30.84. Colleen Daley, 50 freestyle, 25.91; 100 freestyle, 58.27. The Wildcats return from a Tuesday meet at Bear River to host Mira Loma, today, 3:30 p.m., in their second Capital Athletic League meet.
