Whitney swimmers drop two league meets
The Whitney High swim team had two Capital Athletic League meets against Rio Americano and El Camino and came up short in both.
Wildcats swimming head coach Kari Ustaszewski said the Raiders have an outstanding team with a high number of athletes who swim year round.
She said her club swam well against the Eagles but couldn’t overcome El Camino’s depth. The Wildcats fell 92-86 in that tightly contested match.
The Wildcats took 10 swimmers to the Nor-Cal Championship meet at Woodcreek. The Whitney girls placed sixth out of 17 teams in the competition.
Swimming for the Lady ‘Cats were Haley Barker (200 medley relay, 50 and 100 freestyle and 400 free relay), Jenna Loria (200 MR, 100 breaststroke, 100 free, and 400 FR), Megan Green (200 MR, 200 individual medley 100 backstroke and 40 FR) and Lauren Votava (200 MR, 500 free, 200 free and 400 FR).

Votava, Barker, Loria and Green made the finals in all their individual events as well as the 200 MR and 400 FR. All the girls turned in personal best times during the meet.
