Forget the Australian and U.S. opens, even Wimbledon, and make the Whitney High Tennis Classic the event of this season – and years to come. It takes place 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday on both the Whitney and Rocklin high campuses. The Whitney High School tennis program will host this inaugural fundraiser that should become another of Rocklin’s premier events. Eight teams from around the area, and as far away as Modesto, will descend on the city for a fabulous day of great tennis. The teams will compete in three matches to include three singles and three doubles. The format is designed to keep the tournament moving while all United States Tennis Association rules are followed. There will be site directors, and a tournament director to resolve whatever conflicts might arise. Championship T-shirts will be awarded to the top performers in each division. Don’t miss this super Saturday of tennis this weekend in Rocklin – where athletics rule.
