Whitney High’s varsity boys soccer team had no trouble at Bear River on Wednesday, winning 3-0 to close the first half of action in the Pioneer Valley League. Whitney (7-2-2 overall) led 2-0 at the half and scored an insurance goal in the second half. TJ Papenfuss scored twice for the Wildcats while Brian Ramanis scored as well. Michael Swift had one assist and Tyler Messanares had two. Whitney will open the second half of the league season against visiting Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. Monday. Whitney beat Lincoln 2-0 in the PVL opener on Sept. 16. Whitney is tied with El Dorado (5-0-1) at the top of the PVL standings. The teams, which tied 1-1 on Sept. 21, will play at El Dorado at 3:30 p.m. next Wednesday.
