Whitney's Parker to join national youth volleyball team

Whitney High standout sophomore player on the boys volleyball team has been invited to join the 2012 U.S. Boys? Youth Volleyball Team. The club will play in the North, Central American and Caribbean Volleyball Conference Boys? Under-19 Continental Championship in Tijuana, Mexico at the end of June through July 7. Parker had an outstanding season and helped lead the Wildcats to the Sac-Joaquin Section Championship game this spring. Although the ?Cats finished as runners up to Vista del Lago, Whitney compiled a 28-6 record for the year. Should the U.S. team finish in the top two in Mexico they would qualify for the 2013 Federation Internationale de Volleyball Boys? Youth World Championship. A 6-foot 1-inch outside hitter, Parker plays club volleyball for the Northern California Volleyball Club. He has been selected to the Capital Athletic League?s All League team twice and was this year?s Most Valuable Player. Whitney was 14-1 in league play. Parker will head for San Diego June 23 to join the U.S. team as they prepare for competition at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista.
