Festivities have included powder puff football games, a night pep rally open to the community and lunchtime activities to get students excited about the upcoming events. Still to come are the homecoming parade, game and float unveiling Friday and the homecoming dance Saturday. With this year’s theme of “Game On” – videogames will come alive through the dance décor and class floats, according to Mai Smith, Whitney High’s Associated Student Body president. The events leading up to Friday night’s football game are designed to “pump our football team up to beat the Mavericks,” Smith said. For the military ball, students are encouraged to dress in camouflage and members of the ROTC are welcome to wear their uniforms. The gymnasium will transform into somewhat of a war zone with mock helicopters hanging from the ceiling, Smith said.
