Senior Michelle Sterri scored four goals against Roseville to give the Whitney varsity girls water polo team a 6-5 victory against the Tigers last week.

Macie Lopez and Emma Towslee each contributed one goal.

Sterri and Lopez were two of the eight graduating seniors recognized during senior night. Cassidy Wilson, Taylor Aidnik, Taylor Descheemaeker, Emily Parsons, Heidi Miller, and Lexi Ammirati were also honored.

Wilson and Christina Daley led the team as defensive forces against the Tigers.

“This was a great win because earlier in the season we lost to Roseville in a tournament by eight goals,” said head coach Kari Ustaszewski, who said the victory manifests team progress over the season.

Whitney fought El Camino High School for second place in the Capital Athletic League, but the Eagles prevailed 18-9.

“We played our best the last three quarters,” said Descheemaeker.

The Wildcats finished third in the CAL behind El Camino and league champion Rio Americano.
