William Jessup’s Tanzania mission team set to return from Kigoma

-A +A
One of the first summer mission trips sent out from William Jessup University is set to return from Kigoma, Tanzania. Partnering with Hope of the Nations, students will perform vacation Bible school activities as well as other outreaches to various Muslim groups. Mission team members include Ricky Borba, Lunden Desmond, Elizabeth Malech, Jennifer McCarty, Michelle Ross and Rachel Williams. The students left May 18. For Malech, that was just two days after her much-anticipated commencement ceremony. The team will reside in Kigoma until their return on June 10. Prior to the team’s sendoff, first- to fifth-graders from Valley Springs Presbyterian Church in Roseville embarked on a project to support the effort of the students from WJU. The project entailed sewing approximately 200 bags that would later be filled with items donated by the congregation consisting of basic hygiene supplies, small toys or crayons and other items intended for the children of Tanzania. “When we work on projects like this, we typically do about 50 to 100 bags at the most,” said Children’s Ministry Volunteer, Rhonda Silva. “This time around required more help from the kids but they came through in the end.” ~ Staff Report
