William Jessup basketball to host Bill Holtz Classic

The William Jessup University mens and womens basketball will host the 7th Annual Bill Holtz Warrior Classic Friday and Saturday. The eight-team tournament runs from 1-7:30 p.m. both days.

The women’s bracket includes Simpson and Northwest Christian universities, Oregon Institute of Technology as well as the Lady Warriors. The Red Hawks (0-1) of Simpson will open against NCU’s Beacons (2-0). WJU (0-2) will take on the Hustlin’ Owls of OIT.

The men will feature teams from California Maritime Academy (1-1), NCU (1-0), OIT (2-0) and the Warriors (1-0). The Keelhaulers will open against the Beacons and WJU will entertain the Hustlin’ Owls.  

CMA is the defending California Pacific champions and Tech the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

The games will be lived streamed at and Saturday’s Warriors against the Beacons’ game Saturday night broadcast on KAHI 950 AM radio.

Bill Holtz fought amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease) for more than two years. He was a longtime part of the Warriors athletics programs as a shot-clock operator and served on the Warriors Golf Classic committee. He also helped raise funds for WJU sports.

A portion of the proceeds go to the ALS Foundation.
