William Jessup readies for conference play

The William Jessup University womens soccer team fell to Fresno Pacific University 2-0 on Saturday. The Warriors out shot the Sunbirds 14-12, but could not find the back of the net. Freshman Morgan Kinyon recorded six saves for the Warriors. William Jessup will open up California Pacific Conference play on Saturday as they travel to Holy Names University in Oakland. Kickoff is schedule for 3:30 p.m. Volleyball The Warriors volleyball team continued their difficult schedule with a loss to NCAA Division II Academy of Arts 3-0. The Warriors were led by senior Lauren Koons, who recorded seven kills and 10 digs. William Jessup will open up CPC play on Friday as they travel to take on the defending conference champions from Holy Names University in Oakland. Game time is set for 7 p.m. Cross Country The William Jessup University cross-country team traveled to Oakland for the Mills Invitational last Saturday. The Warriors mens team was led by Wayne Smith, who finished 10th with a time of 28:30. Right behind Smith was Ben Burchett (12th) with a time of 28:38. The Warriors womens team was led by senior Kimberly Spencer, who finished 25th with a time of 26:34. The Lady Warriors finished in 9th place out of 12 teams. Next race for the Warriors cross-country team is Oct. 8 in Costa Mesa at the Vanguard Invitational. Upcoming games: Volleyball at Holy Names University, Friday, 7 p.m., Vallejo.
