Williams, Egan, Cooper lead Rocklin at wrestling tournament

Rocklin High’s varsity wrestling team had some solid performances over the weekend at the Tim Brown Memorial Tournament at the Memorial Auditorium in Sacramento. Senior Tommy Williams placed fifth in his weight class (145 pounds) for the Thunder while junior teammates Eddy Egan (142) and Nic Cooper (287) both qualified for the second day of competition. Williams beat opponents from Granada, Pittsburgh and Del Oro to reach the semifinals before losing to the eventual champion. The Thunder will host Woodcreek Thursday and Oakmont next Wednesday, both matches starting at 6 p.m. Granite Bay beat the Thunder 59-18 on Jan. 19.
