Ensemble looks to gain new members
The William Jessup University Community Wind Ensemble has successfully completed its first semester in existence and is planning for the spring semester. Plans for the spring include concerts on campus as well as performances in nearby communities of Yuba City, Lincoln, Vacaville and Napa. “Although I am happy with our current membership, there is always room for more,” said Van B. Crane, director of the ensemble and music professor at WJU. The band provides performance opportunities for the instrumental music students at WJU. The ensemble has expanded to include instrumentalists of all ages from throughout the surrounding community. The band is looking for those who play the oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, French horn, trombone and clarinet. The ensemble performs great band music including marches, show tunes, classics and other traditional band-era music. Qualified high school musicians are also welcome to join with the permission of their band directors. The ensemble rehearses from 7-9 p.m. on Tuesdays at the WJU campus. Musicians interested in joining the ensemble or simply desiring more information should contact Crane at firstname.lastname@example.org or 253-3718.
