The William Jessup men's soccer team defeated California Maritime Academy 2-0 last week. Senior Alex Barclay scored in the second minute and freshman Aaron Schlinder scored the second goal in the 27th minute. The women's soccer team is currently working on a five-game win streak, defeating Mills College last week. Freshman Hekla Goodman scored the first goal and freshman Diana Mejia scored the second off an assist from junior Angela Lira. Freshman Taylor Greasly scored the third goal via penalty kick, and then assisted Goodman on the fourth goal. Sophomore Gabby Leon set up sophomore Jacquie Cassel for the final goal. The Lady Warriors continued their dominance Saturday, defeating Bethany University 10-0. During the winning streak, William Jessup has outscored its opponents 23-1. Last Friday, the women’s volleyball team defeated Bethany University 3-1, but lost to Menlo college 2-3. The squad is now 4-1 in league play. Lady Warrior volleyball has been an incredible turnaround team. After going 6-40 the last two years, Jessup is currently 10-6 overall and 4-1 in the California Pacific Conference. Senior Patricia Plummer leads the league with eight assists per game. Head coach Terry Stafford feels the team has improved due to a larger arsenal of players. "Last year we had nine girls,” Stafford said. “This year we have much more depth and it has really helped us improve."
