Young artists take awards at cultural diversity exhibit

Scores of young artists and their families filled the Blue Line Gallery’s exhibition halls last Saturday evening in anticipation of an awards presentation and the opening of “The Colors of Culture,” Roseville Arts’ annual Children’s Open Show. Best of Show: Ryan Fang, 9, from Roseville. First Place award winners are Alecia Clark, Roseville; Cheyenne Owens, Auburn; Reesa Eliza Artz, Sacramento; and Kieran Taber, Granite Bay. Second Place winners are Shane Ures, Sacramento; Ivy Tillich, Sacramento; Tate Tillich, Sacramento; and Zachery Whitehead, Rocklin. All participating artists received ribbons, and award winners received gift certificates for art supplies. “The Colors of Culture” features the work of 36 young artists, ages 5-12, each responding to the theme of cultural diversity in their own unique paintings, drawings and sculpture. The public is invited to view the exhibit for free at the Blue Line Gallery through Nov. 14. ~ Staff report
