Zachary Dahla receives Spirit of Sport Award
Rocklin High student leader honored
Rocklin High School senior Zachary Dahla has been awarded the 2012 California Interscholastic Federation?s Spirit of Sport Award. Dahla, who plays middle-blocker on the Thunder boys? volleyball team, was selected from hundreds of applications around the state. During Dahla?s tenure with the Thunder, the team has achieved numerous regional and state-wide honors, including the 2011 Sierra Foothill League championship and the 2011 C.I.F. Division I championship. The Thunder currently holds second place in the league with an eye on Sac Joaquin playoffs. Dahla is an active, contributing student athlete on the Rocklin High School campus, where he serves as Associated Student Body President. He is also involved in the Catholic Social Justice Club, student mentoring, freshmen orientation and serves as core team leader with Saint Peter and Paul?s Catholic Church youth group. Dahla will enroll at U.C. Davis in the fall as an Animal Biology major. He plans a career as a veterinarian or pathologist. He will be honored at a C.I.F. dinner next month in Milpitas. Dahla is the son of Kristen and Michael Dahla of Rocklin.
