Soccer tournament benefits Russian orphanage
An indoor soccer tournament organized by Jeff Alexander of Folsom will benefit a Russian orphanage. 11 select teams, most high school age, from Folsom, Loomis, and Orangevale, will be participating in the second TOEF Tourney this weekend, December 21-22. The yearly tournament will take place at the Folsom Sports Complex. Many people have donated time and resources, including the referees, who will be volunteering their services both days. Anyone interested in attending is welcome; all proceeds will be donated to the Tilsit Orphan Education Fund.
The Tilsit Orphan Education Fund is a non-profit organization helping Russian orphans in Sovetsk, a city in the Kaliningrad province of Russia. Jeff Alexander has visited the orphanage each summer for the last three years and also helped sponsor 5 orphans for a visit to the US last June. All donations to the Fund are used to support orphans in college, help with building renovations, and sponsor children for visits to the US.
More information about the Fund is available on the website, www.tilsit.homestead.com. Of course donations are always needed and always welcome! They can be mailed to Tilsit Orphan Education Fund, 7095 Turner Dr., Granite Bay, CA 95746.
