Rocklin and Whitney High’s swim teams wrapped up the season with a successful showing at the Sac-Joaquin Section swimming championships at Tokay High in Lodi over the weekend.
Rocklin’s Amanda Holpuch placed 10th in the 50 free (25.17) for the varsity girls while teammate Katie Stover was ninth in the 100 free (52.86) at the meet that featured swimmers from 104 schools.
Rocklin sophomores Alexis Melnikov and Kayla Phillips were dominant at the frosh/soph level.
Melnikov placed second in the 200 free (1:56.06) and the third in the 100 free (53.9 seconds) while Phillips took second in the 50 free (24.94) and fourth in the 100 free (55.17).
The two swimmers also teamed up with Amanda Calzada and Tayler Lightle to place third in the frosh/soph girls 200 free relay (1:44.89).
Sophomore Connor Schlecht led Rocklin’s boys as he placed 11th in the frosh/soph 500 free (5:06) and 13th in the 200 IM (2:09.34).
Whitney’s Stephanie Grover reached Saturday’s finals in the 50 free and placed 11th (26.1 seconds).
Michelle Henderson placed 17th in the 200 IM and was an alternate for the finals.
Diver Hannah Prigge placed third at sections in the varsity division.
Coach Kari Ustaszewski is excited about Whitney’s potential for next season.
