Vote for The Placer Herald's Player of the Month
Liz, a junior in her third varsity season, is the leading scorer for the Wildcats. She helped Whitney qualify for the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs for the first time in school history.

Don’t forget to vote for The Placer Herald’s Player of the Month for October. Readers can vote for one of three candidates at the bottom of the front page of www.placerhearld.com. Voting lasts from Nov. 6 through Nov. 20 and the results will be printed in the Nov. 26 edition of The Placer Herald.

The October candidates are Whitney High’s Liz Grover (water polo) and Charlie Hetland (football) and Rocklin High’s Tyler Garrison (soccer).

Grover is a junior playing in her third varsity season and she is the leading scorer for the Wildcats.

Grover helped Whitney qualify for the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs for the first time in school history.

Hetland plays quarterback for the undefeated Wildcats. The senior had a big October as he helped his team beat Lincoln, Colfax, Bear River, Mesa Verde and El Dorado by an average of about 27 points.

Hetland threw eight touchdowns in October and helped the Wildcats average 39.4 points per game.

Garrison, a senior, has been a great leader for the Thunder according to coach Grant Depue. Tyler helped the Thunder reach the playoffs as the SFL’s second seed.

“He is a player who changes the game because of his size and vision on the field,” Depue said. “He has the ability to get other players involved and secure, maintain possession of the ball.”

Whitney High running back Zack Graves was voted the Player of the Month for September, getting more votes than Rocklin High’s Jackson Cummings (football) and Janelle Currey (volleyball).
