Community members to receive leadership awards

Stand Up Placer to recognize recipients at 35th anniversary celebration

Five community members will receive the Stand Up Placer Leadership Award recognizing them for their contributions toward ending domestic and sexual violence in Placer County. The awards will be presented at the Stand Up and Dance! event on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Rocklin Event Center.

The Stand Up Placer 2014 Leadership Award Winners are:

Stacy McCoy, coordinator of Placer County’s Sexual Assault Response Team

Scott Owens, Placer County district attorney

Jeanette Patburg, Lincoln resident

U.S. Bank

Placer County Community Advisory Board of Sutter Health

“These leaders have given time, treasure and expertise to help thousands of local survivors of domestic and sexual violence,” Stand Up Placer board President Geralyn Gorshing said in a press release. “Their positive impact on the community is measured in lives saved, lives changed and a safer county for all.”

The public is invited to join Stand Up Placer in honoring the award recipients at the Stand Up and Dance!, 35th anniversary celebration, on Saturday, Feb. 8,  at the Rocklin Event Center, 2650 Sunset Blvd, from 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person and include dinner, dancing and entertainment. All proceeds will benefit services for Placer County for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Tickets may be purchased online at or by calling (530) 823-6224.
