Wednesday Dec 07 2011 comments Community comes out for tree lighting ceremony -A +A Photos by Daryl Stinchfield/Placer HeraldThe Parker Whitney Community Choir lead a singalong during last Saturday?s Christmas tree lighting festivities on Front Street. Springview School's Jazz Band warmed up Saturday's festivities with a selection of holiday tunes. Santa arrived at Saturday?s Front Street festivities riding atop a Rocklin Fire Department truck. Bubba Blair (portrayed by Sidney Willes)and J. Parker Whitney (played Smokey Basset) participated in Saturday's festivities. The charactrs are members of the Living History Program through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Sidney?s skunk, Odiferous, is no longer harmful. Horse-drawn wagon rides were offered to festival-goers. A small petting zoo was set up for the entertainment of younger guests at Saturday's festival. One of the hottest attractions on Saturday was the open fire at the MS Clark Roofing Company. Enjoying the warmth, from left, were Nikki Tucker, Mitchell Collins and Kayla Rickett. Members of The Crossroads Community Church presented a live nativity scene during Saturday's community festival.
