Catherine Colella, of Roseville, 13, a seventh-grader at Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, won an overall first place for scientific inquiry with her “Got Thermal Conductivity?” project at the STEM Expo at William Jessup University over the weekend. Colella's project, which measured the thermal conductivity of wires made of varying materials and of varying gauges, earned her a spot at the California State Science Fair held in Los Angeles in April.
